Papooz

Papooz is a French duo formed by Ulysse Cottin and Armand Penicaut, two inseparable friends who met in the queue for a Patti Smith concert and decided to make pop their common language. They broke through in 2015 with the song 'Ann Wants to Dance', a sun-drenched anthem carried by an androgynous timbre and an infectious lightness, establishing them as one of the key acts of the French pop revival. Their music, both elegant and carefree, draws on bossa nova, Californian soft rock and British pop, creating a refined, joyful world tinged with humour and melancholy. Over a decade, Papooz has released three albums praised for their melodic sense and organic warmth, while building a strong live reputation thanks to concerts that are always vibrant and generous. Between friendship, guitars and unapologetic nonchalance, the duo continues its search for a free, luminous pop meant to accompany happy days and endless summer nights.
