The Blaze
Based in Paris, The Blaze brings together cousins Guillaume and Jonathan Alric around electronic music that sits at the crossroads of French house, ambient and a slower, melodic dance music marked by heavily processed vocals. The project took shape in the mid-2010s, initially through a close dialogue between sound and image, with the two members creating a large part of their visual world themselves. The Blaze attracted attention in 2016 with “Virile” and again in 2017 with the EP Territory, which established an aesthetic of supple beats, airy pads and emotional rises without grandstanding. That first phase was extended by 2018’s Dancehall, the duo’s debut album, where The Blaze refined a broader format between club, electronic pop and cinematic atmospheres. After the single “Somewhere” with Octavian in 2020, The Blaze returned with Jungle in 2023, an album that retains this direct, sensory songwriting while widening the rhythmic palette. On stage The Blaze has moved between major festivals and electronic settings — from Coachella to Primavera Sound, Roskilde, Pitchfork Paris and Igloofest — maintaining a continuity that links music production, visual staging and live performance.
