French 79
Under the name French 79, Simon Henner has been developing a solo project from Marseille since the mid‑2010s, after an initial career with the electro‑rock trio Nasser. French 79 operates within melodic electronic music where synth‑pop, slow house, motorik pulse and cinematic moods intersect; the tracks are often instrumental yet built on a distinctly pop logic. His debut album Olympic (2016) established the foundations of this expansive, progressive writing, continued on Joshua (2019) and then on Teenagers (2023), which confirmed French 79's taste for keyboard pads, gradual builds and crisp rhythms. Henner’s trajectory in the Marseille scene — between band work, production and collaborations — illuminates French 79’s balance between live culture and a sense for arrangement. On stage, French 79 presents this repertoire in both concert and club contexts, maintaining a continuity faithful to music conceived as much for listening as for movement.
