Tyler, The Creator
Born in 1991 in Ladera Heights, California, Tyler, The Creator first made his mark within the collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, which he co-founded in Los Angeles in the late 2000s, taking on the roles of rapper, producer, and art director. Driven by the internet and an aesthetic tied to skate culture and DIY, Tyler, The Creator’s work centers on concept albums that blend alternative hip-hop with soul and jazz influences, sung passages, and more abrasive experimentation. Following the Bastard mixtape (2009), Tyler, The Creator released Goblin (2011), Wolf (2013), Cherry Bomb (2015), Flower Boy (2017), Igor (2019), and Call Me If You Get Lost (2021), each project marking a shift toward more personal writing and more melodic arrangements while retaining characteristic tempo changes and vocal shifts. Recurring collaborations with close associates such as Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, and A$AP Rocky situate Tyler, The Creator within a U.S. rap scene in dialogue with R&B and indie pop. In parallel, he has directed numerous videos under different aliases, developed the Golf Wang visual and clothing universe, and organized the Camp Flog Gnaw festival in Los Angeles, extending on stage and in fashion the aesthetic choices explored on his records.
