Of Monsters and Men
The story of the pop-folk group Of Monsters and Men begins in Iceland with singer and guitarist Nanna Bryndis, who in 2009 was playing small local shows on her own. In 2009–2010, she was joined by musicians Ragnar “Raggi” Pórhallsson, Brynjar Leifsson, Kristján Páll Kristjánsson, Árni Guðjónsson, and Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson. In 2010, the band was noticed thanks to the Icelandic contest Músiktilraunir and rose from a small act to rock-star status, with their first track, “Little Talks,” receiving radio airplay. The band’s debut album, “My Head Is An Animal,” released in 2011, reached number six on the U.S. Billboard 200. Of Monsters and Men then performed across the United States and Europe, playing numerous festivals. In 2013, they were booked for the Main Square Festival, after two shows in France, in Paris and Lyon.
