Patrick Watson
Patrick Watson is a Canadian musician and singer, born in 1979 near Montreal. He first performed with the band Gangster Politics before contributing to the soundtrack of the film “Waterproof/Portrait sous l’eau” in 2000. That same year, Patrick Watson formed an eponymous band with Mishka Stein, Robbie Kuster, and Simon Angell. The group released its debut album, “Just Another Ordinary Day,” in 2003. By playing shows in local venues across Quebec, Patrick Watson and his band began to make a name for themselves, gradually building their reputation. Their efforts paid off in 2007, when their second album, “Close to Paradise,” won the Polaris Prize, which honors the best Canadian album. Having become a popular act, Patrick Watson’s band went on to share the stage with James Brown. After a successful third album, “Wooden Arms” (2009), the group returned in 2012 with “Adventures In Your Own Backyard,” released on the Domino label. With this album, Patrick Watson and his musicians embarked on a series of concerts and festivals in Europe and the United States, including appearances at the 2013 Garorock festival and Days Off.
