Dean Lewis
Born in 1987 in Sydney, Australia, Dean Lewis developed an early interest in songwriting and gravitated toward guitar-driven pop influenced by folk and contemporary balladry. After several years writing out of the spotlight, he broke through in the mid-2010s with the single Waves (2016), a track with a progressive structure and a melancholic tone that established him on the international pop scene. The EP Same Kind of Different (2017) laid the foundations of his musical world, centered on an expressive voice, understated guitar-piano arrangements, and lyrics focused on breakups, nostalgia, and emotional hesitation. With Be Alright (2018), Lewis reached a wider audience and followed up with his debut album, A Place We Knew (2019), which brings together intimate ballads and more uptempo pop tracks. In parallel, he has occasionally collaborated with electronic music producers, such as Martin Garrix, while maintaining the identity of an acoustic songwriter. His second studio album, The Hardest Love, released in 2022, continues this introspective vein by heightening the contrast between stripped-back songs and denser pop productions, which Lewis brings to the stage with a full band as well as in more intimate settings.
