Son Mieux
In The Hague, Son Mieux began around singer-songwriter Camiel Meiresonne, first as an indie pop project and later expanding into a broader collective drawn from the local scene. Rooted in an orchestral and alternative pop aesthetic, Son Mieux blends guitars, strings, keyboards and a rhythm section with communal vocals to build songs often based on progressive climaxes and choruses carried by Meiresonne’s voice. Early releases appeared as indie-pop EPs, which the band developed into a fuller, more danceable sound informed by disco, folk and contemporary pop. The group released the album Faire de Son Mieux in 2019 and The Mustard Seed in 2021, affirming a songwriting approach focused on melodic songs where the group dynamic and live energy play a central role. On stage, Son Mieux presents itself as a multi-voiced ensemble that favors collective dynamics, rich arrangements and a direct rapport with audiences in clubs as well as at Dutch and European festivals. The lyrics address intimate, everyday themes in an accessible register that accompanies the shift to a brighter, more rhythmic pop without breaking from the project’s indie roots.
