Roxeanne Hazes
Born in 1993 in Woerden in the Netherlands, Roxeanne Hazes grew up immersed in Dutch popular music and in contact with the repertoire of her father, singer André Hazes. Exposed to studios and television sets from an early age, she initially appeared performing songs from the levenslied tradition before gradually distancing herself from that heritage to develop a more pop-oriented identity. Throughout the 2010s Roxeanne Hazes established herself as a singer-songwriter on the Dutch scene, singing in Dutch and blending pop, soul and elements of contemporary R&B, with autobiographical lyrics at the core. The release of her album In mijn bloed in 2017 marked a milestone in this evolution, featuring a more modern sound and writing focused on family, relationships and personal growth. Since then she has released numerous singles and occasional projects, collaborated with various producers from the pop and Dutch urban scenes, and alternated intimate tracks with more rhythmic songs, consolidating a style in which traditional Dutch song meets contemporary sonorities.
