Terrence Parker

Active since the late 1980s in Detroit, Michigan, Terrence Parker became part of the city's house scene while developing an aesthetic strongly influenced by soul and gospel. As a DJ and producer, he first made his mark in clubs and on local radio before releasing his first maxis in the early 1990s and later organizing his work around his label Intangible Records & Soundworks. His mixing practice—often associated with using a telephone handset as headphones—accompanies a rhythmic house sound built around direct basslines, melodic pianos and vocals drawn from the soul, funk and gospel traditions. Over the years Terrence Parker has toured extensively across Europe and the United States, playing both specialist clubs and festivals while maintaining a close link to Detroit. His discography includes the 2014 album Life on the Back 9, which condenses this very melodic approach to house, and GOD Loves Detroit (2017), conceived as an explicit tribute to his hometown. Between studio productions, remixes for other artists and energetic, vocal‑oriented sets, Terrence Parker holds a lasting place in Detroit's house landscape and in the international networks that have grown from it.
