Justin Jay

Based in Los Angeles, Justin Jay has since the early 2010s developed a career that moves between house, techno, breakbeat, electronic pop, and formats closer to a live band. Trained in the California scene environment, Justin Jay first appears with productions released on Dirtybird, where his sense of groove and club structures quickly assert themselves, before broadening his terrain with releases on labels such as Black Book and his own ecosystem. Over the years, Justin Jay moves away from a strictly house identity to explore more melodic tracks, broken rhythms, lo-fi textures, and a writing that draws on both rave energy and indie dance. This evolution is reflected in his project Fantastic Voyage, conceived as a framework more open to songs, collaborations, and a collective approach, as well as in the activity of Clean Energy and his label Fantastic Voyage. In terms of discography, his first album Home (2017) marks a turn toward a more hybrid form between electronic music and songwriting. In both DJ sets and production, Justin Jay maintains a pronounced taste for cross-scene crossings, between American club culture, British heritage, and DIY aesthetics, placing Justin Jay on a moving trajectory, without a single line but with a clear continuity in the search for flexible and direct forms for the dancefloor.
