Michael Gray

Born in Croydon, south London, Michael Gray has, since the late 1980s, built a career tied to British house, disco-house and the more vocal strands of dance music. Initially active with Jon Pearn as part of the duo Full Intention, Gray works in both production and remixing, with a marked taste for disco basslines, classic house rhythms and soulful vocals. Under his own name he made his mark in the mid-2000s with “The Weekend” (2004), followed by “Borderline” (2006) with Shelly Poole — two tracks that established a style at the crossroads of club music, dance pop and funk heritage. His album Analog Is On was released in 2007, before a more sustained return across the 2010s and 2020s with singles such as “Walk into the Sun”, “Brother Brother”, “The One” with RoRoe and “The Sun” with The Melody Men. At the same time, Gray continued Full Intention and produced numerous remixes in a house register informed by disco and soulful references. In 2024 Michael Gray released the album Optimism, continuing a warm, direct sound crafted for the dancefloor.
