Seven Lions

Born in Santa Barbara, California, Jeff Montalvo developed Seven Lions in the early 2010s from a clearly identifiable cross of melodic trance, dubstep, electro house, glitch hop and, later, psytrance. His name first circulated thanks to remixes, notably of Above & Beyond’s You Got to Go in 2011, which quickly established him in the North American bass and trance scenes. This hybrid approach took shape on the EPs Polarize (2012), Days to Come (2012), Worlds Apart (2014), The Throes of Winter (2015), Creation (2016), Start Again (2018) and Find Another Way (2020), with a pronounced taste for emotional structures, trance buildups and bass drops that are more massive. Seven Lions regularly works with vocalists and producers from the electronic sphere, among them Fiora, Tove Lo, Kerli, Jason Ross, Wooli, Blastoyz or Kill The Noise, not limiting himself to a single festival aesthetic. In 2018, Seven Lions founded the label Ophelia Records, which became an important framework for his activity and for artists close to his universe. His first album, Beyond the Veil, appeared in 2022 and extended this writing between airy choruses, cinematic textures and denser rhythms, in a trajectory tied to the major American EDM stages, from club tours to festivals.
