Blanke

Blanke, the stage name of John Paul Orchison, has been developing an electronic project since the mid‑2010s that originated in Australia, between Bundaberg, his birthplace, and Canberra, whose music scene he emerged from. His productions move across bass music, dubstep, electro, breakbeat, future bass, house and drum and bass, with a pronounced taste for dark textures, melodic builds and heavy rhythms. After a first remix released in 2015, Blanke issued the EP Black Mamba / Koji in 2016 and Curiosity in 2017, before quickly widening his output with singles, remixes and collaborations for several electronic labels. The late 2010s saw a phase of consolidation with the EPs Alt.Colour / Voice In The Machine and Change & Decay in 2019, followed by Change & Decay: The Fall in 2020 on Deadbeats. He notably collaborated with Rezz on Mixed Signals (2018) and with Illenium on Gorgeous (2019), while establishing himself on club and festival circuits in North America with appearances at Lost Lands and EDC Las Vegas. In 2021 Blanke opened a more drum-and-bass‑focused facet with ÆON:MODE, a side project that extended this edgier aesthetic, before releasing the EP Land of the Wayfarer in 2022 and Emergence in 2024.
