Stu Larsen
Born and raised in Queensland, Australia, Stu Larsen belongs to a folk and indie-folk tradition centered on acoustic guitar, voice and narrative songwriting shaped by his years of nomadic living. After self-releasing the EP The Black Tree in 2010, he gradually found his place on intimate stages across Europe, Japan, North America and South America, often performing solo and sometimes with a small ensemble. His first album, Vagabond (2014), captures in the studio his songs of travel and encounters, while Resolute (2017) develops a more personal writing focused on movement, attachment and return. With Marigold (2020), Stu Larsen continues this stripped-back acoustic approach, using understated arrangements that leave room for the lyrics and melodies. Regularly invited to tour with British singer-songwriter Passenger and performing on stage with Japanese harmonica player Natsuki Kurai, Stu Larsen has developed a restrained aesthetic carried by contemplative ballads where classic folk, indie influences and acoustic pop intersect.
