Roo Panes

Born Andrew Panes in Wimborne, Dorset, Roo Panes entered the English folk scene with acoustic songwriting centered on a 12-string guitar, string arrangements and restrained vocals. After the EPs Once and Weight of Your World in 2012 and Land of the Living in 2013, Roo Panes gained greater visibility that same year through the Burberry Acoustic programme, while continuing his career as a singer-songwriter, including a session for BBC Radio 2. His debut album Little Giant was released in 2014, followed by Paperweights in 2016 and Quiet Man in 2018. He later issued the EP Pacific in 2020, the EP Nightjar and the Nightingale in 2022, and the album The Summer Isles in 2023. His music develops a melodic folk with occasionally orchestral contours, at times close to pared-down chamber pop, featuring introspective lyrics and generally measured tempos. Roo Panes’s career has been built through regular releases and live activity, situated between contemporary British folk and acoustic singer-songwriter traditions.
