Jon and Roy

Born in Victoria, British Columbia, Jon and Roy formed around Jon Middleton, singer and guitarist, and percussionist Roy Vizer, now joined by multi-instrumentalist Louis Sadava. The band came together in 2003 after Middleton and Vizer met at the University of Victoria, and initially played the Victoria and Vancouver circuits with a blend of folk rock, reggae and acoustic pop, driven by supple rhythms, clear harmonies and direct songwriting. After their first album, Sittin’ Back (2005), the group took a break before reuniting to release Another Noon in 2008, followed by Homes (2010), Let It Go (2012) and By My Side (2014), which confirmed a move toward an organic, bright sound centered on groove. The subsequent discography continues that approach with Riverside (2015), The Road Ahead is Golden (2017), Here (2019), Know Your Mind (2021) and Restore (2024). Over the years Jon and Roy have remained rooted in the Canadian indie scene, while Jon Middleton also fronts the duo Ocie Elliott, another aspect of his songwriting work.
