Stu Larsen

On 20 October 2026 Australian songwriter Stu Larsen will take the stage at X-TRA in Zürich. Raised in rural Queensland, he writes folk and indie-folk songs built around acoustic guitar, voice and a narrative perspective. His pieces bear the traces of years spent living as a nomad, between encounters on the road and small moments of arrival — a thread that has run through his work since the self-released EP The Black Tree (2010).

With Vagabond (2014) Larsen captured travel stories; Resolute (2017) brought themes of movement, attachment and return into focus, while Marigold (2020) emphasizes his pared-back side: restrained arrangements and plenty of space for lyrics and melody. Live he is often heard solo, sometimes with a small ensemble; the songs unfold calmly and directly, supported by acoustic guitar and a voice that tells closely. He has repeatedly shared stages with British songwriter Passenger and collaborated with Japanese harmonica player Natsuki Kurai. In Zürich he will bring this lean, acoustic sound to the stage — folk with a classic core, touched by indie and an acoustic pop sensibility.
