Planet Funk

Born in Italy in the late 1990s, Planet Funk formed around Alex Neri, Marco Baroni, Sergio Della Monica, Domenico "GG" Canu and Alex Uhlmann, blending club culture, pop songwriting and rock energy. The project first made its mark with the single "Chase the Sun," then developed an identity built on supple electronic rhythms, pronounced basslines, taut guitars and choruses carried by several guest or associated vocalists, including Dan Black and Sally Doherty. Planet Funk evolved as a collective on the border of electro, alternative dance, synth-pop and electronic rock, with an approach conceived for both stage and studio. Their debut album, Non Zero Sumness, was released in 2002, followed by The Illogical Consequence in 2005 and The Great Shake in 2011. Over the years Planet Funk has maintained a regular presence on live stages and in European electronic circuits, steering their sound toward a more direct formula while retaining the mix of club textures and melodic songs that defines the project.
