Spiller

Born in Venice in 1975, Cristiano Spiller emerged on the Italian house scene in the late 1990s with an approach centered on filtered grooves, soft basslines and a pronounced link to disco. Under the name Spiller, and initially with the project Laguna, he released the EP Laguna Vol. 1 in 1997, followed by the single 'Spiller from Rio (Do It Easy)', produced with Tommy Vee. After 'Batucada' in 1998 and the Mighty Miami EP in 1999, Spiller circulated an elegant house sound, balancing between club music, nu-disco and pop textures. His trajectory took on another dimension in 2000 with 'Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)', the vocal version of the instrumental track 'Groovejet', recorded with Sophie Ellis-Bextor. This track firmly placed Spiller in the European electronic landscape of the early 2000s. The rest of his career remained tied to singles and club formats, with 'Cry Baby' in 2002, 'Sola' in 2004, 'Jumbo' in 2006, then 'Pigeonman’s Revenge' in 2011 and 'Urastar', with Nina Miranda, in 2013. Spiller also founded Nano Records in Venice in 2003, to frame his productions independently, extending a career rooted in melodic house and in a refined dance-music aesthetic without straying from the dancefloor’s effectiveness.
