Gorod

Formed in Bordeaux in the late 1990s, initially under the name Gorgasm before adopting the name Gorod, the band is rooted in technical death metal, with songwriting that gradually incorporated progressive elements, groove and harmonies borrowed from jazz fusion and funk. After their first album, Neurotripsicks (2004), Gorod refined their approach on Leading Vision (2006) and Process of a New Decline (2009), where rhythmic virtuosity remains central without obscuring the emphasis on riffs and dynamic shifts. Over the years the Bordeaux outfit expanded into a broader format on A Perfect Absolution (2012), A Maze of Recycled Creeds (2015), Æthra (2018) and The Orb (2023), allowing brutality, precision of execution and more discernible melodic lines to coexist. Gorod operates within the circuits of extreme metal and progressive metal, maintaining a regular live presence in Europe, North America and Asia.
