Public Service Broadcasting
Originating in London around J. Willgoose Esq., Public Service Broadcasting took shape in the late 2000s as a solo project before becoming a duo with the arrival of drummer Wrigglesworth, and later broadening its stage lineup with JFAbraham and the visual work of Mr B. The band creates music at the intersection of art rock, indie rock, electronica and krautrock, constructed from spoken archives, public information films, documentaries and historical footage reworked into mostly instrumental pieces. After EP One (2010) and The War Room (2012), they released Inform–Educate–Entertain in 2013 and The Race for Space in 2015, inspired by the space race. Subsequent albums confirmed Public Service Broadcasting’s taste for themed records: Every Valley (2017), focused on Welsh mining history; Bright Magic (2021), informed by the imagery of Berlin; and The Last Flight (2024), devoted to Amelia Earhart’s final journey. On stage, Public Service Broadcasting blends rock pulse, electronic textures, documentary narration and projections in a form that borrows as much from the concert as from audiovisual performance.
