Popof

Born out of the Paris free party scene and a long-standing member of the Heretik System collective, Popof developed in the 2000s an identity centered on direct techno, influenced by the rave spirit and sound systems. Gradually he moved away from the strict confines of illegal parties to play clubs and festivals across Europe, evolving his production into a blend of techno, minimal and tech house with more pronounced melodic lines. The French producer released a series of EPs on international labels and in 2009 founded his own imprint, Form Music, which became a platform to explore a more open sound, often built around effective grooves and stripped-back textures. At the same time he produced numerous remixes, notably for Depeche Mode, helping to establish his name beyond the national scene. In 2015 he released the album Love Somebody on Hot Creations, a synthesis of his techno and house leanings with particular attention to vocals and club-friendly formats. Between free party heritage, studio productions and touring, Popof continues a trajectory in which French underground culture remains a central reference in his approach to electronic music.
