Pain

Born in mid-1990s Sweden around musician and producer Peter Tägtgren, Pain explores a crossroads between industrial metal, electronic textures and melodic choruses. Initially conceived as a side project to Hypocrisy, Pain gradually became Tägtgren's primary experimental outlet: he handled songwriting, production and most studio instrumentation before assembling a live band. The self-titled debut Pain was released in 1997, followed by Rebirth (1999) and Nothing Remains the Same (2002), which established a style characterised by the interplay of heavy guitars, programmed rhythms and clean vocals. Dancing with the Dead (2005) and Psalms of Extinction (2007) extended this approach by heightening the contrast between metal energy and pop-like structures, while Cynic Paradise (2008), You Only Live Twice (2011) and Coming Home (2016) confirmed a move toward accessible industrial metal, driven by introspective themes and dark humour. Pain regularly tours the European metal and rock circuits, delivering shows in which the songs gain intensity compared with their studio versions, and has secured a lasting place in the Swedish industrial landscape through a discography built on Tägtgren's sustained work.
