Hammerfall

Formed in 1993 in Gothenburg, Sweden, HammerFall emerged with the wave of melodic power metal developing in Europe at the time, blending the legacy of traditional heavy metal with a clear taste for heroic and fantastical themes. Centered on guitarist Oscar Dronjak and vocalist Joacim Cans, the band gradually solidified into a stable five-piece and established its identity with the album Glory to the Brave in 1997, followed by Legacy of Kings in 1998, underscoring HammerFall’s role in reviving a fast, melodic metal focused on sing‑along choruses. Their discography continued in the 2000s with Renegade (2000), Crimson Thunder (2002) and Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken (2005), confirming a style built on driving rhythms, harmonized guitars and clear vocal lines. Through extensive touring and appearances at major metal festivals, HammerFall consolidated a lasting presence on European—and later international—stages, while maintaining a steady studio output with releases such as Infected (2011), (r)Evolution (2014), Built to Last (2016), Dominion (2019) and Hammer of Dawn (2022), which continue their direct, melodic power‑metal approach.
