Osunlade
Born in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1969, Osunlade has since the late 1980s developed a path at the crossroads of house, soul, African music and a spiritual approach linked to Yoruba culture. Initially active as a composer and producer in the United States, he worked in Los Angeles and then New York, where he collaborated notably with Patti LaBelle, Freddie Jackson, Eric Benét, Musiq Soulchild, Roy Ayers, Salif Keita and Cesária Évora. With the creation of his label Yoruba Records, Osunlade asserts a recognizable language, based on deep, organic house, nourished by percussion, chants, soul textures and constructions often open to jazz and world influences. His discography under his name includes Paradigm (2001), Aquarian Moon (2006), Elements Beyond (2007), Rebirth (2010), Pyrography (2011), A Man with No Past Originating the Future (2013), Peacock (2014) and Basic Sketches for Beginners (2020). As a DJ, producer and musician, Osunlade moves between clubs, festivals and venues dedicated to electronic and hybrid music, with sets that favor deep, spiritual and Afro-descendant forms of house.
