Mood II Swing

Formed in New York in the early 1990s, Mood II Swing brings together John Ciafone and Lem Springsteen around a house music nourished by soul, New York garage, and club pop. The duo first emerged through productions and remixes for the American and British house scenes, with work that blends rhythmic depth, flexible basslines, warm textures, and vocals that are very present. Mood II Swing signed several tracks that became touchstones of 1990s house repertoire, including productions for Loni Clark, Carol Sylvan, Kym English, and Fonda Rae, as well as “All Night Long” in 1997. Their journey is also linked to Ultra Naté, for whom they co-write and produce “Free” in 1997 and then “Found a Cure” in 2000. Highly active in the remix world, Mood II Swing reworks artists across house and dance as well as projects closer to soul and pop, while maintaining an approach centered on groove and the song’s architecture. Their discography under their name includes notably the 2007 album Strictly Mood II Swing, which gathers a portion of their defining productions. Through its releases, dub versions, and vocal collaborations, Mood II Swing embodied a New York house aesthetic that is clubby, melodic, and deeply rooted in dancefloor culture.
