Mike Dunn

Anchored in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Mike Dunn is part of the city’s first generation of house, active since the mid-1980s. His journey sits at the crossroads of Chicago house, acid house and hip house, with early use of rap and vocal in dry, direct, and very dancefloor-oriented productions. Mike Dunn releases his first tracks in the late 1980s, including 'Dance You Mutha' in 1987, then 'So Let It Be Houze!', often cited among the early hip house tracks, and 'Magic Feet', associated with the early Chicago acid sound. In parallel, Mike Dunn collaborates with several figures in the local scene such as Armando, Fast Eddie and K-Alexi, and co-founds with Armando Gallop labels tied to this history, notably Warehouse Records, Dance Mutha and Muzique Records. Under the alias The MD Connection, he also releases Tracks That Move Ya in 1989. Remaining active as a DJ, producer and vocalist, Mike Dunn has appeared more recently on tracks by Honey Dijon, Jax Jones or Seamus Haji, while continuing his own releases. His second album, My House From All Angles, was released in 2017. A member of the Chosen Few DJs since 2012, Mike Dunn continues to connect Chicago’s house heritage to newer forms of club.
