Koreless

Born in Wales and from Bangor, Lewis Roberts, under the name Koreless, develops electronic music with shifting contours, between ambient, bass music, slow techno and orchestral composition. He emerged in the early 2010s with the releases 4D in 2011 and Yügen in 2013, where a taste for airy textures, fragmented rhythms and gradual crescendos already appears. Koreless then integrated into a British scene attentive to both club and home listening, with stints at Young and Vase, and sets presented in contexts such as Boiler Room or the Red Bull Music Academy. In 2012, Koreless also formed the project Short Stories with Sampha, whose single On the Way / Let It Go appeared in 2013. Over the years, Koreless broadened his work toward production and collaboration, notably with SBTRKT and then FKA twigs on several tracks of Magdalene in 2019, Caprisongs in 2022 and Eusexua. Based partly in Glasgow according to several sources, Koreless has also developed a more written live dimension, sometimes with a string ensemble, which extends the kinetic and detailed character of his music. His first album, Agor, released in 2021, condenses this approach into an electronic music that is precise, abstract and physical.
