Eartheater
Under the name Eartheater, Alexandra Drewchin has developed since the late 2000s a project situated between experimental electronics, industrial pop and a deliberately fractured psychedelic folk. Born in northeastern Pennsylvania and based in New York, Eartheater belongs to an independent scene where vocal writing, composition, production and performance intersect. Her first albums, Metalepsis and RIP Chrysalis, released in 2015 on Hausu Mountain, established a sound built from fragmented melodies, abrasive textures and arrangements that combine physical tension with a more spectral register. With Irisiri in 2018 on PAN, followed by the mixtape Trinity in 2019 on her own label Chemical X, Eartheater narrowed her approach toward a mutant, shifting pop that retains an experimental anchor while remaining open to more direct forms. Phoenix: Flames Are Dew Upon My Skin (2020) explores a more organic, acoustic facet, and Powders (2023) continues the work of contrasts between an airy voice, corporeal songwriting and dense production. Alongside her solo discography, Eartheater also collaborated with LEYA on the EP Angel Lust (2019) and has taken part in projects with artists from contemporary experimental and pop scenes.
