Kamelot

Formed in the early 1990s in Tampa, Florida, Kamelot established itself on the international metal scene with a blend of melodic power metal, symphonic elements and progressive touches. Founded by guitarist Thomas Youngblood with drummer Richard Warner, the band evolved from an epic‑sounding heavy metal toward more complex compositions marked by orchestrations, dark atmospheres and recurring narrative work. After the first two albums, Eternity (1995) and Dominion (1997), the arrival of singer Roy Khan ushered in a more conceptual phase, exemplified by Epica (2003) and The Black Halo (2005), inspired by Goethe’s Faust. Kamelot continued this melodic and theatrical trajectory with Ghost Opera (2007) and Poetry for the Poisoned (2010). From 2012 the Swedish singer Tommy Karevik took over, and Kamelot refined a sound combining catchy choruses, orchestral arrangements and more modern passages on albums such as Silverthorn (2012), Haven (2015), The Shadow Theory (2018) and The Awakening (2023). Active on European and North American stages and often associated with the symphonic metal scene, Kamelot frequently collaborates with guest vocalists and develops a carefully crafted visual aesthetic that extends the dramatic and introspective themes of its lyrics.
