Myrath
Formed in 2001 in Ezzahra, a suburb of Tunis, Myrath is a progressive metal band leaning toward power metal, enriched by melodies drawn from North African and Middle Eastern traditional music. Initially active under the name X-Tazy, they gained attention on the local scene and recorded the demo Double Face in 2005, a prelude to their debut album Hope, released in 2007. With Desert Call (2010) and Tales of the Sands (2011), Myrath established an oriental metal identity where technical riffs, more prominent orchestrations and vocals rooted in Arabic modes converge. Around founding guitarist Malek Ben Arbia and singer Zaher Zorgati, the band consolidated a core of Tunisian and French–Tunisian musicians and gradually expanded its activity into Europe and North America, touring clubs and playing metal and progressive rock festivals. With Legacy (2016) and Shehili (2019) they accentuated the melodic and cinematic dimension of their writing while remaining within a metal framework, a direction they continued with Karma (2024), confirming their place on the international oriental progressive metal scene.
