Frozen Crown

Formed in Milan in 2017 around guitarist and composer Federico Mondelli and vocalist Giada “Jade” Etro, Frozen Crown fits within the tradition of Italian melodic power metal. The band develops a fast, catchy sound characterized by technical guitar riffs, choruses sung with a clear and powerful voice, and touches borrowed from speed metal and classic heavy metal. Frozen Crown’s early albums, “The Fallen King” (2018) and “Crowned in Frost” (2019), establish an aesthetic centered on epic and fantastical themes, while incorporating some more extreme vocal passages. After several lineup changes around the Mondelli/Etro core, Frozen Crown stabilized as a quintet with a second guitar, bass and drums, which strengthened the band’s stage presence. “Winterbane” (2021) deepens the darker dimension of their writing, whereas “Call of the North” (2023) emphasizes more direct structures and prominent vocal melodies. Active mainly on the Italian and European metal scenes, Frozen Crown builds its trajectory through tours, specialized festivals and a regular presence within the network of labels and media dedicated to contemporary power metal.
