Xandria

Born in Bielefeld, Germany, around guitarist and keyboardist Marco Heubaum, Xandria formed in 1994, had a first hiatus in 1997, then restarted in 2000 with a more structured direction. Early recordings combined dark rock, alternative rock and atmospheric metal, before a more clearly symphonic sound emerged over the years, featuring melodic guitars, keyboards, expansive orchestrations and female lead vocals. The first discographic period includes Kill the Sun (2003), Ravenheart (2004), India (2005) and Salomé – The Seventh Veil (2007), albums that established Xandria on the European metal scene. After several singer changes, the band refocused from Neverworld’s End (2012) on a more pronounced symphonic metal, continued with Sacrificium (2014), the EP Fire & Ashes (2015) and Theater of Dimensions (2017). This trajectory was marked by numerous line‑up reshuffles, with Heubaum remaining the core of the project. Put on hold after 2017, Xandria returned in 2022 with a new team and singer Ambre Vourvahis, then released The Wonders Still Awaiting in 2023, where the band retained its symphonic base while adopting a less operatic vocal style. Xandria has also toured with bands such as Epica, Kamelot and Delain.
