Joyce Jonathan
Born in Levallois-Perret and trained in Paris, Joyce Jonathan writes, composes and accompanies herself on piano and guitar in a French chanson register where acoustic pop, light folk and intimate melodies intersect. She became known in the late 2000s by publishing her songs on MySpace and later via the My Major Company platform, before releasing Sur mes gardes in 2010, an album developed with Louis Bertignac and driven notably by Je ne sais pas, Pas besoin de toi and the duet Sur mes gardes with Tété. Her writing, focused on relationships, romantic hesitations and everyday narratives, is also present on Caractère (2013), Une place pour moi (2016), which contains Les Filles d’aujourd’hui with Vianney, then On (2018) and Les p’tites jolies choses (2022). Joyce Jonathan has also taken part in several collective projects and recorded duets with Ycare, Salvatore Adamo and Jason Mraz. From 2010 she developed a parallel career in China and Taiwan with Mandarin adaptations of her repertoire and concerts in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei, before winning the 2024 Chinese show Cheng Feng.
