Giant Rooks

Formed in Hamm, Germany, in the mid-2010s, Giant Rooks is an indie rock and indie pop band that shapes its songs in English around Frederik Rabe’s voice and Finn Schwieters’ guitars. From the EP The Times Are Bursting the Lines (2015) and then with New Estate (2017), Giant Rooks established themselves on the German-speaking alternative scene, ran their first club tours and began to appear on European stages. The EP Wild Stare (2019) confirmed a songwriting approach that blends pop structures, pronounced rhythms and more atmospheric passages, with a taste for catchy vocal melodies and detailed arrangements. With their debut album Rookery (2020), Giant Rooks expanded their aesthetic toward a broader sound where indie rock meets modern pop tinged with electronic influences and art-pop touches, while retaining an accessible song format. The second album How Have You Been? (2024) continues this trajectory, refining the balance between band energy, immediate choruses and more introspective moods, and accompanies sustained touring activity that cements Giant Rooks on club and festival stages beyond Germany.
