KYTES
Formed in Munich in 2015 as an offshoot of Blind Freddy, KYTES crafts a German indie pop that embraces electropop, featuring crisp guitar lines, bright keyboards and a sense of rhythm that borrows from synthpop and disco-pop. Initially a quartet and later a trio of Michael Spieler, Timothy Lush and Kerim Öke, KYTES drew attention with their early singles, released the EP On the Run in 2015 and their debut album Heads and Tales in 2016. The band shifted toward more direct, danceable songwriting, particularly after founding their own label, Frisbee Records, which released the EP Frisbee in 2019 and the album Good Luck in 2020. Following several singles in 2021, KYTES continued on this trajectory with the EP Apricosa in 2022, where their indie pop adopted sunnier, more electronic hues, and then with To Feel Something At All in 2023. Active on both German stages and overseas tours, KYTES has shared bills with acts like Alt-J and King No-One, while retaining a concise, rhythmic and melodic pop identity.
