Provinz

Formed in Vogt, in Upper Swabia, Provinz brings together Vincent Waizenegger, Robin Schmid, Moritz Bösing and Leon Sennewald around a German-language pop writing that blends indie pop, light rock and contemporary chanson. The band takes shape as early as 2012, initially in a local setting, before widening its audience in the late 2010s with songs built on direct melodies, choral refrains and a clear production where guitars, keyboards and a flexible rhythm coexist. After the EP Reicht dir das in 2019, Provinz released its debut album Wir bauten uns Amerika in 2020, followed by Zorn & Liebe in 2022. Their journey runs through festivals like the Reeperbahn Festival and a regular presence on the German-speaking pop scene, with several occasional collaborations, notably with Majan, Jeremias, Nina Chuba or Danger Dan. In 2021, the band also releases the EP Zu spät um umzudrehen. The third album, Pazifik, is released in 2025. In the recent German pop landscape, Provinz develops a band format that is quite rare in today’s mainstream music, with a collective sound focused on voices, generation-spanning lyrics and an aesthetic that links indie energy with the sensibility of melodic pop.
