Von Wegen Lisbeth

Formed in Berlin in 2006 by five musicians who initially gathered under the name Fluchtweg, Von Wegen Lisbeth operates in an indie pop/indie rock vein sung in German, with songwriting that pays close attention to ordinary situations, dialogues and the small details of everyday life. The quintet first moved through harsher registers before refining a more melodic sound built on bright guitars, keyboards, supple rhythms and the occasional use of atypical instruments like glockenspiel or steel drum, which give the whole a light, offbeat color. After an initial phase of independent releases — notably the EP Promo 2012 and then Und plötzlich der Lachs in 2014 — Von Wegen Lisbeth gained visibility by supporting AnnenMayKantereit and later Element of Crime on tour. The band subsequently released the albums Grande (2016), [email protected] (2019) and EZ Aquarii (2022). Alongside tours in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Von Wegen Lisbeth regularly appears on the line-ups of German-language festivals, from Fusion to Deichbrand and Taubertal.
