Hey Rosetta!

Formed in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Hey Rosetta! developed around Tim Baker’s songs with a seven-musician lineup where guitars, piano, drums, bass, violin, cello and brass expand the framework of indie rock. The band sits in an indie rock and alternative rock register nourished by folk accents, with string arrangements giving its songs a melodic breadth without leaving a direct writing style. After a first self-produced EP in 2005, Hey Rosetta! releases Plan Your Escape in 2006, followed by Into Your Lungs in 2008, an album that accompanies its establishment on the Canadian indie scene. The trajectory continues with a more worked aesthetic on Seeds in 2011, before the live album Live from the Corona Theatre in 2012 and the EP A Cup of Kindness Yet the same year. Second Sight appears in 2014 and prolongs this evolution toward a broader sound, between rock tension, orchestrated ballads and restrained lyricism. Hey Rosetta! toured in festival and venue circuits in North America, while maintaining a strong anchor in the Newfoundland scene. The group announced a pause in 2017, before confirming its return in 2026 with reunion concerts planned for 2027.
