Sam Roberts Band

Led by singer and guitarist Sam Roberts, Sam Roberts Band is a rock project from Montreal, Quebec, rooted in melodic songwriting with influences from indie and North American classic rock. Initially active under the name Sam Roberts, the group drew notice in the early 2000s with the EP The Inhuman Condition (2002) and the album We Were Born in a Flame (2003), which established a template of taut guitars, a sharp ear for hooks, and introspective lyrics. Sam Roberts Band followed with Chemical City (2006) and Love at the End of the World (2008), before officially adopting the band moniker with Collider (2011), signaling a more collective dynamic around a stable core of musicians. The albums Lo-Fantasy (2014), TerraForm (2016), All of Us (2020), and The Adventures of Ben Blank (2023) continue this aesthetic, at times incorporating psychedelic touches, more prominent keyboards, and subtly pop-tinged rhythms. A mainstay on Canadian stages, Sam Roberts Band crafts a direct yet nuanced rock sound, designed as much for live performance as for the album format.
