Creed
Founded in the mid-1990s in Tallahassee, Florida, Creed emerged from the American post-grunge wave, blending melodic hard rock with saturated-guitar ballads. Fronted by Scott Stapp (vocals) alongside Mark Tremonti (guitar), Brian Marshall (bass) and Scott Phillips (drums), Creed drew attention with the 1997 album My Own Prison, initially recorded independently before seeing wider release. The band solidified its place on the rock scene with Human Clay (1999) and Weathered (2001), marked by a dense sound, contrasting riffs and lyrics that often explore spiritual and introspective themes, showcased in tracks like “Higher,” “With Arms Wide Open” and “My Sacrifice.” After a split in 2004 — during which several members focused on projects such as Alter Bridge — Creed reunited in 2009 and released Full Circle, reaffirming their radio-friendly rock built on classic structures between power ballads and heavier songs, followed by intermittent hiatuses and reunion performances.
