Florent Marchet

Born in Bourges in 1975 and raised in Lignières, in the Cher department, Florent Marchet has developed since the early 2000s a body of work that sits between French chanson, orchestrated pop and studio songwriting, with a marked taste for narratives and albums conceived as cohesive units. Trained at the Bourges conservatory and forged on small stages, in theatre and through various musical projects in the 1990s, he released his first album Gargilesse in 2004, followed by Rio Baril (2007), Courchevel (2010), Noël’s Songs (2011), Bambi Galaxy (2014) and Garden Party (2022). His writing pairs clear melodies, string or brass arrangements, keyboards, guitar and a production that can lean toward broader pop or more electronic hues, without abandoning the ground of sung storytelling. Florent Marchet also leads the project Frère Animal with the writer Arnaud Cathrine, in a format at the crossroads of song, text and stage creation. Alongside his records, he composes for film and television— notably for A moi seule by Frédéric Videau, Carré 35 by Eric Caravaca, Selon la police and the mini-series Les Aventures du jeune Voltaire—while occasionally collaborating with artists such as Miossec, Philippe Katerine, Jane Birkin, Clarika and Bernard Lavilliers.
