Cyril Mokaiesh

Born in Paris in 1985, Cyril Mokaiesh grew up between French and Lebanese heritage, a dual anchoring that progressively informs his writing. Initially the singer of the rock band Mokaiesh, a quartet formed in the mid-2000s, he released a first album with the group in 2008 before embarking on a solo career from 2010. His music sits between French chanson, rock and acoustic pop, with direct lyrics often addressing social, political or intimate issues. He released Du rouge et des passions in 2011, followed by L’amour qui s’invente in 2014 and Clôture in 2017, which features a tighter songwriting approach and several dialogues with other voices, notably Bernard Lavilliers. In parallel he recorded Naufragés with pianist Giovanni Mirabassi in 2015. With Paris‑Beyrouth (2020) he broadened his palette toward Mediterranean and Eastern sonorities linked to his family origins, then continued collaborative work on Dyade (2021) with Calogero, Keren Ann and Bachar Mar‑Khalifé. In 2023 Cyril Mokaiesh devoted Le temps de vivre to the repertoire of Georges Moustaki. Over the years he has appeared on stages such as Les Francofolies, Pause Guitare and the Fête de l’Humanité.
