La Maison Tellier

La Maison Tellier is a French band founded in 2004 in Rouen, Normandy, by brothers Helmut and Raoul Tellier, surrounded by musicians with diverse influences. Their sound sits at the crossroads of narrative folk, chanson and the great American storytelling tradition, with a taste for stories, landscapes and characters—like cinematic scenes set to music. The group announced itself with its eponymous debut in 2006 and then refined its world across Second Souffle, Beauté pour tous, Avalanche and Primitifs Modernes, culminating in Passeurs (2020), an album focused on heritage and transmission, enriched by collaborations with Gaëtan Roussel, Laura Cahen and Thomas Dutronc. Through dense songwriting, carefully crafted vocal harmonies and organic arrangements where guitars, violin, pedal steel and keyboards intertwine, La Maison Tellier builds music that is both literary and alive, each track acting as an intimate and collective narrative. Renowned for their troupe spirit and warm concerts, they foster a direct connection with the audience, turning the stage into a space for sharing, driven by folk energy and deliberate storytelling. Without nostalgia or affected posturing, they belong to an artisanal tradition of song, where every album, collaboration and tour becomes a new chapter shaped by people, the band and the power of stories told in many voices.
