First Aid Kit
Born in Svedmyra in the Stockholm metropolitan area, First Aid Kit brings together sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg around English-language folk songwriting that blends indie folk, americana and country folk, with a strong taste for tight vocal harmonies and acoustic arrangements. The duo began to circulate outside Sweden in the late 2000s, notably after their 2008 online cover of Fleet Foxes’ “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song,” which quickly drew international attention. After the EP Drunken Trees (2008), they released The Big Black and the Blue in 2010 and The Lion’s Roar in 2012, an album that positioned their writing between North American folk tradition and a pop sensibility. First Aid Kit followed with Stay Gold (2014), Ruins (2018) and Palomino (2022), evolving toward broader productions without losing the balance between clear melodies, intimate narratives and country references. Over the years they have toured Europe and North America and played major festival stages, while collaborating vocally with the likes of Conor Oberst, Jenny Lewis, M. Ward, Tove Lo and Pink. In 2021 the duo also released Who by Fire, a live recording paying tribute to Leonard Cohen.
