Claus Hempler
Born in Nyborg in 1969, Danish singer-songwriter Claus Hempler first made his name in the early 1990s as the voice of the rock band Fielfraz, formed in Odense and active on the Danish alternative scene between melodic pop and guitar-driven rock. After that initial period with a band, Hempler launched a solo career in the late 1990s with the EP “I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life” (1999), featuring English-language songwriting marked by classic pop and a crooner-like sensitivity. The album “Charm School for Pop Singers” (2004) confirmed this direction with polished arrangements blending soul, rock and sophisticated chanson. He later shifted linguistic register, turning to Danish on “Kuffert fuld af mursten” (2011) and “Happy Times” (2019), developing a more introspective style centered on a deep voice, narrative lyrics and generally measured tempos. Equally at home on stage in electric line-ups and in more intimate formats, Claus Hempler occupies a distinctive place in Danish pop, between the rock legacy of the 1990s and mature songwriting in the local language.
