Signe Svendsen
A well-established voice on the Danish scene since the early 2000s, Signe Svendsen first gained notice as a backing vocalist in the pop project Rollo & King, with whom she notably took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001, before embarking on a solo path focused on writing in Danish. Signe Svendsen’s repertoire sits between pop, folk and chanson, supported by predominantly acoustic arrangements, straightforward melodies and lyric writing that draws on everyday life, relationships and intimate tensions. Her debut album Ny passager was released in 2010, followed by Kun de faldne rejser sig in 2013, the live recording Unpolished in 2016 and Det forsvinder igen in 2019, which confirms her emphasis on a tight band aesthetic and narrative songwriting. Active on Denmark’s club, theatre and festival stages, she alternates intimate shows with fuller line-ups, occasionally collaborates with other Danish singer-songwriters, and maintains a steady schedule of touring and new song production.
