Pernille Rosendahl
Born in Hasseris, near Aalborg in Denmark, Pernille Rosendahl has built a career since the early 1990s between pop and rock, with melodic songwriting often tinged with indie-rock and restrained arrangements, sometimes laced with electronic touches. Before establishing herself under her own name she sang in the choirs of The Savage Rose and contributed to the album Månebarn in 1992. After the EP Dream Away (1997), she founded Swan Lee in 1999 with Jonas Struck and Emil Jørgensen — a trio that left a mark on the Danish scene in the 2000s with the albums Enter (2001) and Swan Lee (2004), returning to the studio with The Garden (2023). In parallel she formed The Storm with Johan Wohlert, pursuing a more immediate rock approach, documented notably by Where the Storm Meets the Ground (2008) and Rebel Against Yourself (2011). Her solo path materialized with Dark Bird (2016) and The Hurt (2019), two more introspective records in which the pop elements concentrate around stripped textures, melancholic moods and a very forward vocal. Pernille Rosendahl has also composed for film and theatre and performed in more intimate settings, including churches and museums.
