Peter Sommer
Born in 1974 in Skanderborg, Denmark, Peter Sommer has, since the early 2000s, developed a body of work as a Danish-language singer-songwriter at the intersection of rock, pop and a songcraft delivered in a spoken-sung register. After first gaining visibility as part of the duo Superjeg, he launched a solo career with the album "På den anden side" (2004), followed by "Destruktive vokaler" (2006) and "Til rotterne, til kragerne, til hundene" (2008), which reveal a universe built from everyday narratives, understated irony and contained melancholy. The records "Alt forladt" (2013), "Elskede at drømme, drømmer om at elske" (2018) and "Stærk strøm hen over ujævn bund" (2021) extend this writing, varying arrangements from stripped-down formats to a denser band sound. At the same time, Peter Sommer co-founded the duo De Eneste To with Simon Kvamm, exploring a Danish pop-rock framed by lyrics that mirror his solo work. On stage, he often performs surrounded by the band Tiggerne, a configuration that reinforces the rock grounding of his repertoire while keeping lyrics and his distinctive diction central across his output.
